About Tone Barker Silk

Tone Barker Silk is a small, Copenhagen-based boutique clothing company that has been creating sustainable, beautiful clothing with personality since 1986.

We only produce a limited number of pieces (around 30-50 per style/print across all sizes). We design clothing that brings beauty, comfort, and joy for decades.

The designs are feminine and relaxed, and we develop styles for different body shapes because we want young, mature, slim, and curvy women alike to find their favorite clothes, love them, and wear them until they fall apart.
 

Climate- and people-friendly production methods
Our silk mainly comes from bulk (material that's already in stock). Our production methods and materials cause as little harm as possible to the environment. Prints and dyeing are done using non-toxic dyes in closed-loop systems. Our prints are created in-house, often in collaboration with talented Danish artists.

Many pieces are made from naturally colored silk (de-gummed) and later dyed and/or hand-painted in our workshop in Copenhagen, using plant-based dyes or non-toxic pigments.

The silk fabrics are produced under ethically sound conditions in China, where we’ve worked with incredibly skilled people in a relationship built on trust and friendship that’s lasted almost 40 years.

The new Generation
As something new, a new generation of the Barker family has entered the scene with their very own collection: M. BARKER by Marie Barker, inspired by some of the things we created 20-30 years ago but with fresh twists and new prints. It’s a younger, "wilder" style.
